Only recently, Beverly Schwartz released Rippling: How Social Entrepreneurs Spread Innovation. It lays out 5 actionable principles for how individuals can become a Changemaker and effectively serve their culture and community.

In the book, Schwartz shares nearly 20 personal narratives from Ashoka Fellows throughout the world and drawing on a wealth of insights offered by some of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs, she provides a blueprint for visionary thinking and demonstrates how people can drive meaningful change.

The 5 principles learned from those case studies that according to her define successful models of changemaking for both individual leaders and organisations are:

1)      Restructuring industry norms

2)      Changing market dynamics

3)      Using market forces to create social value

4)      Advancing full citizenship

5)      Cultivating empathy

Each section of the book also includes reflections from thought leaders such as Geeta Rao Gupta, Arianna Huffington and Peter M. Senge. Definitely worth a read!
