Social Entrepreneurship in Asia

Even though the Asia Pacific region has been subject to increasing economic development, it still hosts two-thirds of the world’s poor. However, it is not only poverty that causes a vast number of people in Asia Pacific to struggle, other major issues include nutrition and education, sanitation, health, human rights and environmental threats.

While the last few years showed increasing public awareness of social entrepreneurship and an increasing involvement of large MNEs (multinational enterprises) in fighting social issues through innovative solutions, coverage of these initiatives is still extremely low. This blog aims at shedding light on initiatives that succeed in supporting the economic development of developing Asian countries and fighting social issues. Hopefully, this coverage can help to increase awareness, recognize the contributions of certain people, organisations and companies and be an inspiration to innovative individuals.
